MM Powerplus Busway offers a wide range of products designed to suit almost any location. It is available with either copper or aluminium conductors in the range from 400 to 6000 Amps. Larger sizes up to 10,000+ Amps can be designed to suit special requirements.
The use of finned aluminium casing is an enhanced cooling concept. It allows heat generated by the conductor bars to be dissipated more efficiently than the larger steel casings of conventional busway systems. The effective size of the earth is typically 2-3 times the size of the phase conductor, and this provides a better capacity earthing medium for the whole electricity supply system.
The unique single bar design allows a more compact system installation to be obtained, such that it can fit with every environment. Its compact size and narrow width enable installation in confined spaces, thus requiring less room to be allocated to electrical riser services. In the higher amperages it usually requires less than half the space of other busway systems, or similarly rated cable formations. It requires less installation time, avoiding complications arising from parallel bar arrangements. The compact size and inherent low impedance make it the most versatile system available for feeder and rising distribution mains application.
The sandwich construction, using Class B insulation material (Polyester Mylar 130 DegC) between conductor bars, means internal smoke and fire barriers are not required. The busway run is available in weatherproof type (IP54) and outdoor type (IP66) configuration.
Joints are made by simply sliding together and tightening the clamping bolts progressively to the torque specified. This ensures equal load sharing, and even contact area, on multi-bolt joints – a feature not available with shear-head bolts. |
